. Open port numbers for both the FlexNet and ANSYS Licensing Interconnect. Defaults are 1055 and 2325, respectively. To verify that these port numbers are available, open a command line and enter the following command: netstat -a -p tcp You will see a list of active ports. If 1055 and 2325 are listed, they are already in use and cannot be.
Ansys software includes Fluent, HFSS, Maxwell, Electronics Desktop, CFX, Chemkin-Pro, Discovery SpaceClain among others.
Ansys Base license products (Mechanical and CFD) and HPC license products (HPC, HPC Packs, and HPC Workgroups) enable GPUs. Ansys Base license products (Mechanical and CFD) and HPC license products (HPC, HPC Packs, and HPC Workgroups) enable GPUs. Specifically, each GPU is treated the same as a single CPU core with respect to license requirements. License types
There are two types of academic licenses for Ansys software: teaching and research.
The teaching license can only be used for class work. It has limitations on the number of nodes and elements that can be defined in a problem/job. You can't use the teaching license for research.
The research license is only to be used for non-proprietary analysis. Licensee and its contract users must be, or be affiliated, with an academic facility. Licensee may additionally permit individuals who are students at such academic facility to access and use the program(s). Such students will be considered contract users of licensee. The program(s) may not be used for competitive analysis (such as benchmarking) or for any commercial activity, including consulting.
Who may use it?
All research licenses are limited to research groups that have purchased their own licenses. To get pricing and other information, please send email to software@ecn.purdue.edu
If you want to use Ansys in a class then class licenses are available for this. Send mail to software@ecn.purdue.edu to let us know..
Ansys software is available on all ECN-supported Linux and Windows systems. If it is not on your ECN-supported Windows PC, contact us for assistance.
Multiprocessing
Using Ansys on computers with multiple CPU cores and on HPC clusters is supported. Starting with Ansys version 16 (Feb 2015) a single license will let a job run on up to 16 CPU cores. To utilize more CPU cores than that, you will need to buy Ansys HPC licenses (one HPC license for each CPU core >16 you want to use.)
